Aromatherapy

Background

As a country situated on the equator, Indonesia has an abundance of biodiversity. Global biodiversity is not evenly distributed; the highest rate of biodiversity is found in regions along the equator. With a flora endemicity of 0.5% or 1500 out of the approximate total of 300,000 plant species in the world, Indonesia's  biodiversity is among the richest, spanning the entire country : the Sunda Shelf and Wallacea. The Sunda Shelf encompasses the Malay Peninsula, Sumatera, Java, Madura, Bali and smaller neighboringislands, while Wallacea is the cluster of islands separating the Sunda Shelf from the Sahul Shelf, which includes  Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara andMaluku.

This biodiversity, particularly in the flora, has been historically well-known. This was evident from the arrival of foreigners in Indonesia, drawn by the superior quality of Indonesia's flora. Today, Indonesia continues to supply at least 80% of the world's fragrance industry through various spices, resins, woodbark, roots and rhizomes (lemongrass), and flowers (ylang-ylang, cananga, tuberose, frangipani).

With the abundant richness, and the rapid advance in science and research that explore the many uses of tropical plants, we seek to raise Indonesia's profile through its natural bounty, and to invoke pride in Indonesia. These can be brought into reality through environmentally friendly products, the prudent use of chemicals, and the creation of products that are responsible to the consumers, raw material suppliers (farmers) as well as the environment and the earth.

The recent trend towards green (environmentally friendly) products is not a passing fad, but rather a reaction to the environmentally-unfriendly consumer culture that affects the balance of modern life worldwide. Not only do we see an opportunity that will provide financial benefits, but we also seek to become a sustainable producer, to ensure that our products are of good quality and will not solely benefit the producers .
