COFFEE FLOWER MOTIF

Coffee flowers are small white beautiful flowers, while the fruit are wet spindles and has inspired coffee farmers to create a batik motif based upon the shape.

Batik Losari has always been inspired by the shapes of nature around the Losari Village, where Batik Losari is produced. These shapes are created into unique motifs.

Losari Village is known to have a fast coffee plantation. The biggest area is approximately 11 hectares under the management of MesaStila, which was once the Losari Hotel. In 2006, a batik training was held for the Losari Village women which continued at the Losari Hotel. The motif was inspired by what was closest to their lives at the time, which were coffee trees.

To date, the coffee flower motif continues to be developed by Batik Losari’s as its unique motif. Outlines of the coffee trees were drawn and immersed in environmentally-friendly natural dye. Coffee flowers and fruits were drawn densely and repeatedly. The process were immersed in various natural colours, creating alternative colours such as indigo blue, brown, and sage.
